A memorial service for Dick Nielson, WA7QNE, will be held at Olympic Memorial Garden Cemetery in Tumwater, Washington, on Saturday, November 7 at 2 pm.

Dick was a very active amateur radio operator and volunteered in many community activities and organizations.

    The Olympian published an obituary on November 1, 2009, excerpted below:

    Richard Douglas Nielson Richard left this world on October 19, 2009 at 6:20 A.M. at Mason General Hospital with his wife and daughter by his side. Richard was born in Boise, Idaho on November 7, 1940 to Rulon D. and Hazel Meline Nielson.

    Family suggests donations may be sent to the Red Cross as he loved to volunteer for many years. WA7QNE is silent.
