The Mason County Amateur Radio Club will meet Saturday, December 13, 2014 at 8:30 AM at the Alpine Way Retirement Apartments in Shelton, Washington. (Coffee provided) Y’all come join us. Everybody is welcome! Remember that Testing is immediately after the meeting.
The end of 2014 is swiftly approaching. Now might be a great time to make sure you’re ready for emergencies around your House/City/County/State/Country by making sure your radio works in all situations, your “go bag” is stocked, and your training is as up to date as can be. Part of this “training” is participating in our local Nets so join in when you get the chance.
Reminder that Jerry (N7YGE) is going to give a class on APRS at our January meeting. He asks that y’all download and install the following program:
First off, people are going to have to get a passcode to use the program if they have not ran any APRS program before. If they have already used any APRS program in the past, they can use the same passcode; works on all APRS programs.
Note: If you don’t have an APRS-IS passcode for your callsign, send an e-mail to here or direct to here to request one. Make sure you include your callsign and the fact that it’s for APRSISCE/32.
(Click) Here is the website that tells everyone how to install this program:
If they can read and follow the website, they can be up and running before my presentation in January. Have them try to install the program and run it before January. Then they can bring their questions to me in January and get answer to where they may have had difficulty. This program can be used on the internet or over RF. But they can run it on the internet so they do not have to have any equipment other than their PC.
I installed it and had it up and running inside 10-minutes once I got the passcode. Wasn’t difficult.
