The next amateur radio license testing session (also called a volunteer examiner session, or VE session) will be held on October 9th at 11:00 am at the PUD #3 building.
The Club will meet at the Public Works Building on Saturday, October 9th. COVID-19 restrictions are in effect.
Those who have been vaccinated do not have to wear a mask
Those who are not vaccinated have to wear a mask.
Social distancing is in effect, please maintain a 6-foot spacing.

Good morning Brian;
I wanted to let you know that I’m working getting a Technician Class set up. The class will be held at the DEM on Tuesdays starting on September 28, 2021 from 7 to 9 pm. The class will run ten weeks in length. The class has a limit of twenty (20) people. The book that is required for the class is the Ham Radio License Manual, current edition, published by the ARRL (approximately $30.00) and there is an additional fee of $10.00 for materials for the class.

EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 2 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 9 PM PDT MONDAY...
* WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with with highs warming to the 90s and peaking above 100 degrees Sunday and Monday.
* WHERE...Much of western Washington.
* WHEN...From 2 PM this afternoon to 9 PM PDT Monday.
* IMPACTS...Unusual warmth and record high temperatures will significantly increase the potential for heat related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities and for the elderly and those without air conditioning.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Nighttime relief from the heat will be reduced especially in urban areas which will remain warmer later into the night. Low temperatures will be in the 60s to mid 70s. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.

We still have our Chat Nets every Sunday evening @ 1900 hours (7:00 PM) on 146.72 MHz (- 103.5) and our 10-meter net on Tuesdays @ 1930 hours (7:30 PM) on 28.450 MHz (USB).
NMARES (The North Club) has a net on their new repeater every Monday at 1930 on 145.170 MHz with a negative 0.600 MHz offset (144.57 MHz) and a tone of 103.5.
You do not have to be a member of the club to join in! New folks are always welcome!

VE exams for all license levels are offered the first Saturday of each month at 1100 (11 A.M.) at the Mason County Department of Emergency Management (DEM) at 100 W Public Works Drive, Shelton, WA 98584. For testing you will need the original and a copy of your present license (if you have your ticket already), some form of ID with YOUR picture on it, and $15.
