“Ham or horse?” asked the greeter as we entered the Creekside Buffet for our December club breakfast.
For a split second I wondered if that was my menu choice, but a moment later I realized there were two groups having breakfast gatherings: the Mason County Amateur Radio Club, and a local horse club.
“Ham!” I replied, and we were directed to a long table near the large windows at the back of the restaurant.
Our breakfast confab was well attended with about 20 club members, family, and radio friends. We learn about each other at these events, and this breakfast was no exception: I heard one ham explaining that while reviewing his logs, he thought he had worked all states on 160 meters, while another was discussing search-and-rescue techniques.
Another ham who hadn’t been to a club meeting for quite some time attended our breakfast, and the warm greeting he received probably means we’ll see him at some club meetings in 2010.
We did miss seeing several club members and their families, and we extend to them our hope for a happy, healthy holiday season.
Good food, good radio friends, good fellowship: it was a great event!
