Attention all you “older” RV’ers/Campers or anyone that enjoys going to the National Parks. You might want to check out the “Senior Pass” you can pick up for a mere $10 the next time you go to a National Park. It is a lifetime pass available to U.S. citizens and permanent residents who are 62 years and older. It provides access to recreation areas managed by five Federal agencies. It also provides the pass owner a discount on some amenity fees such as camping (see Senior Pass Benefits section). The Senior Pass admits pass owner/s and passengers in a non-commercial vehicle at per-vehicle fee areas and pass owner + 3 adults, not to exceed 4 adults, where per-person fees are charged. FYI.

Next MCARC Meeting: 2015-02-14

The Mason County Amateur Radio Club will meet Saturday, February 14, 2015 at 8:30 AM at the Alpine Way Retirement Apartments in Shelton, Washington. (Coffee provided) Y’all come join us. Everybody is welcome! Remember that Testing is immediately after the meeting.

Reminder that Jerry (N7YGE) is going to give a class on APRS at the meeting. He asks that y’all download and install APRSISCE/32:

First off, people are going to have to get a passcode to use the program if they have not ran any APRS program before.  If they have already used any APRS program in the past, they can use the same passcode;  works on all APRS programs.

Note: If you don’t have an APRS-IS passcode for your callsign, send an e-mail to here or direct to here to request one. Make sure you include your callsign and the fact that it’s for APRSISCE/32.

(Click) Here is the website that tells everyone how to install this program:

If they can read and follow the website, they can be up and running before my presentation in January.  Have them try to install the program and run it before January.  Then they can bring their questions to me and get answer to where they may have had difficulty.  This program can be used on the internet or over RF.  But they can run it on the internet so they do not have to have any equipment other than their PC.

Training is what saves the day!

Notice: January Meeting Cancelled @ Alpine

Subject: 1/10/15 meeting at Alpine

I am contacting you about our self imposed quarantine.  There is a bug going around and we are canceling all outside meetings for the time being.  I assume this will not last too long.  We have to cancel the 10th.  Should we reschedule to a different Saturday this month?  You still have the standing meeting times for the year.

Let me know if you want a different Saturday this month.

Thank You

Sheri Chase

Concierge

Anyone want to reschedule the meeting to another Saturday for January, or just go on to the February meeting. In either case, I’m sure everyone hope for the best @ Alpine Meadows.
