How to renew your amateur license

If you’re an amateur radio operator licensed by the FCC, eventually you’ll need to renew your license. Here’s how to proceed.

Start by visiting the FCC Universal Licensing website at http://wireless.fcc.gov/uls/index.htm?job=home.

If you’ve never registered, find the NEW USERS label and click the orange REGISTER button, then follow the prompts. This will lead you through the process of obtaining an FCC Registration Number (FRN).

(Don’t remember if you previously registered? Click http://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsApp/UlsSearch/searchLicense.jsp and enter your call sign to check!)

If you have previously registered, find the ONLINE FILING label and click the orange LOG IN button, then follow the prompts, or jump straight to https://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsEntry/licManager/login.jsp and enter your FRN and password.
