Because our weekly radio net occurred this year on December 23, that made it the last net before Christmas. We opened the net with a special call for check-ins, just for this special occasion.
Twas the net before Christmas
And heard on the air
Were ham radio folks
Getting ready to share
And I in my ham shack
Serving as net control
Say welcome all hams
To our weekly gabfest show
So come now ye hams
Shout out your call sign
Other hams want to know
What’s on your mind
Emergency traffic
We will of course allow
Now let’s get things started
Check-ins, come now!
The question of the night was: what was your favorite Christmas toy, and is there a story about it? We heard stories of trains and planes, bicycles and cars, electronics and books. Despite the lean times of World War II, some of our hams recalled wonderful memories of that era.
That question elicited some wonderful reminiscing and special memories, a great reminder that every Christmas season is a special time for many people. So from this ham shack to yours: Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night.
